about Tinsley
Seattle-based singer-songwriter Tinsley makes indie pop-rock that’s equal parts heartfelt and playful, blending breezy melodies with sharp lyrical self-awareness. She grew up singing and writing poetry before picking up the acoustic guitar in high school to turn her words into songs—initially inspired by learning Taylor Swift covers and performing in church worship bands.
After reconnecting with guitarist Brandon Parker in her early 20s, Tinsley began performing her original music around the Pacific Northwest, quickly becoming a sought-after vocalist and songwriter within Seattle’s music community. Her sound draws from indie, rock, and country influences—think Feist, Kacey Musgraves, Sharon Van Etten, and the narrative wit of modern pop storytellers—balancing emotional honesty with charm.
Her music has received support from KEXP (90.3), 107.7 The End, and C89.5, along with press from American Songwriter, Atwood Magazine, and Ones to Watch. Her 2023 EP Love Songs was named the #1 pick in The Seattle Times Washington music critics poll by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame–recognized DJ Marco Collins.
In January 2025, Tinsley released her self-titled debut album—an indie pop-rock coming-of-age record exploring grief, relationships, and growing into yourself—with vinyl funded by KEXP DJ and local music advocate, John Richards. She supported the release with her first West Coast tour, supporting Rocky Votolato’s project Suzzallo on the road. Now, she’s entering her next chapter with new music that feels lighter, sharper, and more self-assured, led by her upcoming single “Bad Enough.”
what critics are saying
“Boasting a dreamy pop rock sound that evokes bands like The Cranberries, Tinsley has become one of the up-and-coming artists to watch in the Seattle music scene. She’s carved out a niche as a tastemaker favorite, as famed Seattle DJ Marco Collins was a champion of her 2023 EP Love Songs and beloved KEXP DJ John Richards funded the vinyl pressing of her new self-titled debut LP. Tinsley offers up warm, nostalgia-tinted tunes that feel like tiny aural diary entries.”
“The debut album from Seattle’s Tinsley is an earnest, endearing collection of infectious indie-pop and indie-rock, with occasional alt-country undertones. Her sugary vocals bring bittersweet lyrics of yearning and heartache to life, complemented by bright guitars, irresistible hooks and plenty of allure. ”
“The smokey-voiced indie pop artist is as sticky in her lyrics as her music is in melody.”
“Tinsley’s latest single is cathartic country-pop at its finest.”
“‘Distract Me’ is a dreamily caressing pop success from Seattle-based artist Tinsley.”
